However, I can see the appeal. If you're someone who goes to a lot of black tie events, wearing a shirt like this would be a very private way to break up what you might come to see as the monotony of black tie, and yet be perfectly presentable.

To coin a phrase, it's crypto-subversive.

I also see the appeal to iconoclastic plaid-lovers like our gracious host. Maybe you should have bought that cream dinner jacket those many moons ago. If you had one, I'd lend you my plaid madras cotton bow tie & cummerbund.Young Fogeynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9081206974005845104.post-28454704560105163522010-05-20T06:45:49.220-07:002010-05-20T06:45:49.220-07:00Hi

This is something to wear sans tie or coat and unbuttoned to mid chest. I'm not suggesting you do so but that it is the kind of shirt worn by one who would.David Vhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04656794645683894339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9081206974005845104.post-76867925483650287442010-05-17T07:01:56.006-07:002010-05-17T07:01:56.006-07:0016.5-42 ....man that's a big-ass shirt.16.5-42 ....man that's a big-ass shirt.ADGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16612897500610475937noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9081206974005845104.post-90806520954767541472010-05-17T01:23:05.528-07:002010-05-17T01:23:05.528-07:00Wing collar aside, I think that's a great shir...Wing collar aside, I think that's a great shirt. A friend of mine has something similar (from Thomas Pink, I think, but I could be wrong) with the sleeves and back in various different striped patterns, while the front is a perfectly traditional white marcella. Since we all know that you shouldn't take your dinner jacket off anyway, wearing something like this seems quite fun to me. There's something quietly subversive about it.Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16830993529506105218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9081206974005845104.post-51624698231002520682010-05-16T19:49:59.253-07:002010-05-16T19:49:59.253-07:00That is a great shirt!!That is a great shirt!!Main Line Sportsmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11303248738216839079noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9081206974005845104.post-3830404723182624882010-05-16T19:46:59.583-07:002010-05-16T19:46:59.583-07:00In regards to wearing a dinner jacket, if you want...In regards to wearing a dinner jacket, if you want to wear it...I say wear it!
