Pink, part 3

At long last, the all too elusive pink university stripe oxford. I've wanted one forever, but they just aren't that easy to come by these days.

$3.99, cast aside by some local gentry.

  1. Can you disclose the manufacturer?

  2. I actually had a Ralph Lauren Oxford just like that. Much sexier on men!

  3. Nice shirt! I'm fortunate enough to have two like that, one long-sleeved and one short, both bought new from Lands End. The pink stripes in the Lands End shirts are a bolder, deeper color than in the one pictured.

Unfortunately, Lands End doesn't have many university stripe shirts these days, and almost all of what they do offer is blue (which I like, but other options would be nice, too).

  4. I was wearing mine yesterday. It is an old Structure brand shirt with no logo. I believe Structure became Express for Men? Who knows, but I love my pink uni.

  5. I picked one up at Land's End a few months ago. It's a no iron, so it's not so soft. Mercer makes a nice one too - a bit on the pricey side, but the collars and oxford cloth are perfect.

PS - I really like your site. Thanks.

  6. I have a pink Chipp Uni stripe. Big old roll. Weighs at least 7 pounds. Buttons made from MOP at least 100 years old. The pink dye was derived from the testicles of a rare tree frog found only in Panama where it lives off the sweat of three toed sloths. Is yours a RL Polo?

  7. I admit it ...good old Ralph strikes again.

I always feel a little silly in Ralph, but his shirts, size 15/33, are a perfect fit on me. And for those of us who are too young to have bought the real stuff in the eighties, Polo keeps my wardrobe nicely fleshed out.

    Tin Tin,

Thanks for explaining the pink uni stripes rarity. You know everything.

  8. I can't believe we wear the same shirt size! On the other hand, my jacket size is 37 short (but with gibbon arms), and after ballooning up to a 32" waist, I'm finally down to 31" (but still aiming to go back to 30", where I was from my late 20s until 40 and child #1).
