Anyway, I like dressing for the in-between. It can be challenging, but it can also provide a rare opportunity to experiment with mixing seemingly disparate sartorial elements.
Today's wind and rain prompted an unexpectedly early debut for the trusty Barbour jacket. Tweed caps and wide wale cords are a natural cinch with this one, but I think it comes off quite well with khaki, too.
Note the button closure here. I've actually intended to mention this before, but it keeps slipping through the cracks. When the rain is blowing, I close the zipper right up to the neck. When it's not, I prefer to close one snap in the middle, and wear it like a sports jacket. Affected as all Hell, but you gotta admit it's kinda cool.
barbour check. khakis check. bow check. good thing didnt run into you on the T. with you on the snap-best part of buttons on jackets.
ReplyDeleteThis is just awesome! You really know how to rock the Barbour, although it's better buttoned down to the bottom. And I really like the Italian flag collar pin Nationalist-style. Nice touch.
ReplyDeleteCiao Giuseppe!
ReplyDeleteMa allora, che ne hai fatto di quel pezzo di stoffa che Barbour ti ha così gentilmente inviato oltreoceano?
Complimenti per il blog.
P.S Sentiti libero di rispondere in inglese, tanto capisco bene.

I love the "in between" season dressing. I call it "mixed media", or "mixed message". Example: Sweaters and sandals. Or a light weight jacket, but over summery clothes. Or shorts and a jacket. Love it!
ReplyDeleteFor me these last few days in Boston have had me running for the pendleton wool...love this time of year when the first wisps of fall start making themselves known around these parts.
ReplyDeleteA fine and practical look, but have you considered a water repellent hat. I got one at REI, a canvas fedora, and it's rather nice looking, and effective at keeping the old aqua out of the neckal area
ReplyDeleteI am new to this blog, and I have just spent an hour reading back a month. I enjoy very much your personality and humor combined with thriftiness plus the ambition to always present yourself well. Thrifting is an art, That most people do not have do not, through conceptual belief, disdain for wearing the older belongings of others, or pride or whatever, have no time for. Their loss. I look forward tommoremof the same in the future.
ReplyDeleteDamn. Is it Barbour time again?
ReplyDeleteFear not, we're loking at a humid 90 degrees cme Sunday. In between indeed.
ReplyDeleteI for one look forward to Barbour time...the one button closure is something to imitate, which I did right away, walking my trusty Lab with my trusty Barbour on. Your Barbour must be an older Beaufort. Today's Barbours have exchanged the waxy look for something they call Silkoil...it doesn't age that beautifully.
ReplyDeleteIt was some fine Barbour weather here in Rhode Island as well. I don't mind those rainy days as much since I got my Gamefair a few years ago. Cheers!
