It's always good to know your roots, not forget where you came from. Here's a post to remind usof the old days of An Affordable Wardrobe. Lots of pictures, minimal pontification:
Cavalry Twill, thick as you thumb, lapped seams
3/2 undarted front
3 button cuff
hook vent

Imagine it on a crisp day with charcoal flannels, a thick oxford shirt, wool knit tie, tweed cap and Florsheim longwings, or maybe even with some dark jeans and a soft white oxford on a trans-atlantic flight. Unstoppable. Now if only we had some weather that wasn't 84 degrees and fully humid...
Well, the hot weather has stopped down here in D.C. ... it is pouring and for the next couple of days looks like more of the same.
ReplyDeleteNice looking jacket!
That's a very nice coat, but it seems like half of a suit. And the button placement seems a bit off--as though the former owner had the jacket shortened and did not make any other adjustments. Cavalry (not Calvary) twill is the real deal.
ReplyDeleteBe glad you are not in East Texas. 84F to us is cool.......
ReplyDeleteAt least we're at the longsleeve polo/OCBD level here in Charlotte, a few sweater evenings on the way, but tweeds and heavy twills are still a couple of weeks off.
ReplyDeleteGood looking coat, some horn buttons might look right
