Gentlemen (most especially the married ones), a friendly reminder:
Excessive drinking of beer, or time spent playing cards or golfing with "the boys" are likely to land you squarely in the doghouse.
Should you be caught consorting with the likes of this young lady, forget about it.
"The Doghouse Tie", made in England for Trimingham's of Bermuda, generous gift of a friend.
A belated Happy Valentine's Day to you all.
Unfortunately, Trimingham's closed in 2005.One more sign of the decline and fall of civilization.

ReplyDeleteHoly moly, now this tie is for gentlemanly players only :)
ReplyDeleteTremendous tie...love it.
ReplyDeletehow wonderfully camp!
ReplyDeleteThat's the tie of the year!
ReplyDeleteHow did Paul Winston at Chipp miss doing that tie?
ReplyDeleteLove the tie--even though I'd never, ever wear it.
ReplyDeleteBest. Tie. Ever. Thanks for the tip! Check out my repost on Bermuda Shorts:

Now, if you could just tell me where to get one of these fantastic ties I'd be ever-so-grateful.
Great tie! And, I know exactly where I would wear it ...
ReplyDeleteAmusing.
ReplyDeleteI was Triminghams' menswear buyer and one of my many areas was tie buying. When I came to Bermuda in 1982 this tie was already a hot seller. But some of the ladies in the tipping [the inside bit!] were approaching pensionable age so I decided to get some newer images. On my next buying trip to London I was forced to spend a morning selecting 4 tasteful pictures from a selection of hundreds of scantily clad young ladies. This was one of the nicer aspects of my buying career and I got paid for it [not much].
ReplyDeleteThese ties just kept on selling over the years. They came in 3 colours and sold for about $20 each [I think].
Trimminghams! - The major store in Halilton has been razed and has a new bank - shame really.
ReplyDeleteThat's hysterical.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep my eye out for any more good old ties from Triminghams. I live in Bermuda and people donate this stuff to the consignment shop all the time.
ReplyDeleteI was in Bermuda in 2009. The best store is the English Sports Shop
ReplyDeleteThat was great post. I love that tie - I would never wear it but I do love it. What a great store that was. I am really sorry to hear it is gone. That is the kind of store I had hoped to one day take my son to (he is only seven now and has no interest in clothes). I seem to remember there were a couple of other stores in Bermuda selling traditional men's clothing, but it has been at least ten years since I was last in Bermuda. I can only hope not much more has changed.
ReplyDeleteBest regards,
