Ever thought of something you used to have, but forgot about, only to realize that you haven't seen it since God-knows-when and you can't for the life of you remember where or how you lost it? Drives me crazy.
I used to have a boiled wool tattersall vest, like the one in the photo, but with brass buttons. It was reversible, bright red on the inside, also with brass buttons. Clearly this vintage masterpiece must have been part of an equestrian ensemble at some point, but it looked great with flannels, a tweed jacket and a knit tie. Lately, I've been searching for a new one.
How could I lose such a thing? Oh well, to quote Frankie: "Regrets, I've had a few...."

That's so sad that you lost it -- vest like these are just perfection!
I love this! Pale yellow is just such a great colour.
I have one of these hunting vests from Ede and Ravenscroft of Saville Row (as near as the English have to a University Clothiers). Mine is burgundy with white tattersal on the reverse side and a gold satin back. Tres chic...but relatively expensive at around £200. I wear it with me tweeds from the same tailor. Luverly.
I see vests like this all the time. Next time I see one I'll pick it up for you.
I see these all the time here in Virginia - I buy them for myself for riding. E-mail your size and I'll be on the lookout for you. They should be very easy to find at some of the tack shops and thrift stores I go to. Let me know colors, too.
