Pink

Big muscles, tattoos, time spent in prison, or the military, or both, athletic prowess, skill with firearms, the ability to fight another man, drinking large quantities of whiskey in a competitive manner and bravery in the face of death...all qualities that our society views as "tough" in a man...
but walking around in a pink hat all day? Now that takes some real stones (pardon the French).

Drinking large quantities of that horrendous whisky you produce pales in comparison

Bayonet,

I don't personally produce any whisky. That which I drink, in modration, usually comes from Scotland or Ireland.

Like the blue blazer. As of late in NYC I see numerous men where a Blue blazer with jeans and new balance sneakers. The only place I have seen pull that look off is in a J.Crew catalog

I would like to see your take on that kind of outfit

I've been reading your blog for about a month now and I really do appreciate your intentions of sharing economical sartorial ideas with us men than do not have disposable incomes.

Unfortunately, as of late I feel like you've veered away from that and have been using the blog as an avenue to "toot your own horn" so to speak (to summarize the last 3 of 4 posts: I have the balls to wear a pink hat, I'm so modest but let me tell you about all the compliments I got today, and I'm so badass because I love breaking the rules). Please get over yourself and get back to blogging about awesome affordable clothes and culture.

suwatch,

duly noted...thank you for the 'dressing down'.

Best to keep things humble...

i quite like the quirky ideas that you are bold enough to show case. not that i feel i could get away with all of 'em here in Edinburgh! I like the style of hat but not sure I'd go for pink.

It's your blog so don't stop 'tooting' on my account

Bayonnet -

Comparing Scotch to Bourbon is like comparing apples to oranges. Very different drinks for very different tastes.

The next time you buy some bourbon, try some Booker's (single barrel unfiltered goodness)

I love navy and pink together. Works for me!

It's always about the time and most importantly - - the place. Easy in NYC on a Spring day and you'll get nods of admiration from a few folks who pass you by.

Walking down the street in Jacksonville, FL and...Well, I don't think you wanna know.

While suwatch has a point, this is Giuseppe's blog, and he has already demonstrated that this blog, though focused on looking great while paying little, does venture off into other directions. I, too, read this blog (in part) for money-saving tips, but we do have to see the implementation--and what better way than the venerable What I Wore-type of post?

Giuseppe,

I wrote, but somehow failed to post, a comment earlier. The gist of it was that even though I have been wearing pink for ages, and continue to wear it now, I have to admire a man who has the ability to wear a pink hat, which I would never do. Wow.

Great outfit (especially the pocket square)--except one thing caught my eye. It appears that your tie is navy and pink, and your blazer is navy, too. It seems to me that the only thing worse than trying to pair navy and black is trying to pair two different shades of navy: all you ever get is clashing navies that fight with each other (red is another color that does not play nicely with slightly different shades of itself).

Is my monitor off, or was this another sprezzatura moment?

I wear pink oxford shirts....I have a Chaps long sleeve and a Polo short sleeve pink with blue stripes....but for that type of hat I have a black kangol and a light blue Dockers....I couldn't pull the pink hat off....and remember our slogan "real men wear pink"
