Unfortunately, Trimingham's closed in 2005.One more sign of the decline and fall of civilization.http://www.brandlandusa.com/2008/05/08/bermuda-fans-still-miss-triminghams/
How cool is that tie???
Holy moly, now this tie is for gentlemanly players only :)
Tremendous tie...love it.
how wonderfully camp!
That's the tie of the year!
How did Paul Winston at Chipp miss doing that tie?
Love the tie--even though I'd never, ever wear it.
Best. Tie. Ever. Thanks for the tip! Check out my repost on Bermuda Shorts:http://davidlahuta.blogspot.com/2011/02/best-tie-ever.htmlNow, if you could just tell me where to get one of these fantastic ties I'd be ever-so-grateful.
Great tie! And, I know exactly where I would wear it ...
I was Triminghams' menswear buyer and one of my many areas was tie buying. When I came to Bermuda in 1982 this tie was already a hot seller. But some of the ladies in the tipping [the inside bit!] were approaching pensionable age so I decided to get some newer images. On my next buying trip to London I was forced to spend a morning selecting 4 tasteful pictures from a selection of hundreds of scantily clad young ladies. This was one of the nicer aspects of my buying career and I got paid for it [not much]. These ties just kept on selling over the years. They came in 3 colours and sold for about $20 each [I think].
Trimminghams! - The major store in Halilton has been razed and has a new bank - shame really.
I'll keep my eye out for any more good old ties from Triminghams. I live in Bermuda and people donate this stuff to the consignment shop all the time.
I was in Bermuda in 2009. The best store is the English Sports Shop
That was great post. I love that tie - I would never wear it but I do love it. What a great store that was. I am really sorry to hear it is gone. That is the kind of store I had hoped to one day take my son to (he is only seven now and has no interest in clothes). I seem to remember there were a couple of other stores in Bermuda selling traditional men's clothing, but it has been at least ten years since I was last in Bermuda. I can only hope not much more has changed.Best regards,JRC
