Alternative Black Tie

I wanted to go somewhere wearing this....
...but instead I stayed home and wore this.
(Tuxedo t-shirt gift of the Boy and the Girl. Mrs. G says they absolutley insisted)

I'm not going to get all sappy about the meaning of things and say that all this silly stuff about clothes doesn't matter, because I really believe it does. However, it's never a bad thing to have little reminders to keep things in proper persepctive. My family is happy and healthy, and I have a lot to be grateful for. So what if I spent New Years Eve in a tux t-shirt.

Happy New Year.

p.s. after much neglect, the Shop has a lot of new items in it today. As though you haven't spent enough money in the last few weeks....

It might have been fun to deliberately attend a gathering of stuffy clothing purists wearing this, and to have annoyed them even more by claiming that it is the future of black tie in a more informal world.

Roger, I'm afraid the "future of black tie" looks more like what Giuseppe really did wear than what he wanted to wear.

But I like how you think :-)

absolutely, not absolutley...

sorry, pet peeve of mine...

Any linguists out there able to provide an explanation of why people spell absolutely as absolutley? Comsidering the fact that all one has to do is add the adverb-forming suffix -ly to the adjective absolute, and that there's no English word absolut or suffix -ley, why this error is so common is a mystery to me.

I think its more of a common typing mistake than a common linguistic mistake. I make mistakes all the time, being human and all, especially small ones. What really gets me is the way people have of zeroing in on an honest typo and miss the real topic of conversation entirely.

By the way, there is no "m" in "considering".

To hell with black tie...that jacket is so nice that you should be looking for as many opportunities to wear it as you can muster!

Only in the traditional menswear sphere could a post about a sweet act of humor and kindness on the part of G's young children be turned, via the comments section, into a spelling lesson and a lament about the decline of western civilization.

I think that that would be a great party jacket - it would go so well with green/blue bloodshot eyes after the party. ;P

I found an Izod Lacoste blazer in Black Watch tartan on New Year's Eve. And in my size, to boot. It would have been perfect, if I'd had anywhere to wear it. But I brought it home anyway. Maybe next time.

Your kid's gift is so sweet! Love that you wore it New Year's eve.

May you and your family continue to be happy and healthy in 2013.

Well that escalated quickly.

On a brighter note..

Giuseppe I received my Brooks Brothers navy windowpane yesterday, and I could not be happier with it. It was carefully packaged, and the way the jacket was folded left minimal wrinkles which came right out with a good steam. I now have my eye on the Oxxford navy with unusal stripe. I will just have to wait for my bonus to kick in next month.

I really appreciate the service you offer. I would never be able to find anything like what you have in your shop in any thrift stores in my area.
